They're out to get you

Tue, 31 May 2005 13:25 – No comments

The ducks are out to get you! Look at them coming for you! Run!

What's the difference...

Fri, 27 May 2005 16:47 – No comments

What's the difference between a cookie and a biscuit?
I'm going to eat them both! Mwhahahahah!

Oh, wait. That doesn't make sense. Well, eating them does, but not the riddle.

Exams done for now

Thu, 26 May 2005 13:42 – No comments

The fictional dramatization earlier presented of what could have come to pass at the Signals and Systems exam did, in fact, not happen.

Indeed, it turned out better than I hoped for -- not that I had hoped for much. I give it a score of 3.

Now I have three months of free time. That's not bad. Not bad at all. Go me!

Signals and Systems exam

Wed, 25 May 2005 15:01 – No comments

Problem 1, Answer:

I have not studied for this exam, because I believe that the topic signals and systems can give you cancer.

Indeed, as of writing this, I fear for my life and it's only with my greatest efforts I have dared to approach this exam.

You will find the rest of the answers blank, as I can't endure this exam any longer.

Kill a pudding

Tue, 24 May 2005 22:41 – No comments

- I believe I could kill a pudding.
- Kill a pudding, sir? I'm not sure you can kill a pudding.
- Of course you can, don't be silly. And I want you to get me one.
- Really, sir? Well, as you wish. But I'm afraid you won't be able to kill it.
- Don't think I'm tough enough, do you?
- No, sir, it's not that. It's just that no one can kill a pudding.
- So you keep insisting. Tell me, why can't anyone kill a pudding?
- Well, sir, one of the main features required to be killed is to be alive.
- Ah, and you're going to say pudding isn't alive next, are you not?
- Yes, sir.
- That's where you're wrong, you see. Pudding is just as alive as apples, tomatoes, squirrels and bread. Ordinary stuff I use to kill.
- Squirrels, sir? Is that not rather cruel?
- Well no, not squirrels. I'm not Elvis, you know.
- If you say so, sir. But even though apples and tomatoes are alive in some sense, I'm not sure you can call bread alive.
- It's full of yeast, and yeast's as alive as your next dog.
- Perhaps, sir. But pudding doesn't normally have yeast in it.
- But you can have apples in it, that's nice. Apple pudding.
- But, sir, are not the apples killed when you create the pudding?
- Oh, they don't have to be. You can be careful, can't you?
- I suppose so, sir.
- And there you have it. Now go get me some apple pudding. I could kill some right now. And by kill I mean eat.
- Eat, sir? ... Ah, I see.
- Well, what did you think? I left my gun at the manor, and I'm bloody well not going to strangle pudding -- it's way too smeary.

Second exam

Mon, 23 May 2005 23:19 – No comments

I've done the second exam today. I give it a score of 4, out of 5. I did make some stupid errors, but that's not the exams fault... not much anyway. It was on Numerical Analysis, which is, in some sense, a very interesting topic.

About the last exam (ie, then one earlier called the First), I'd like to promote the preview guess score of 3 to a real score of 3.

Yarr, only one exam left to be keelhauling. Then me be sailing the seven seas for the whole summer, looting bounty all weeks long. Yarrr, shiver me timbers, that be a fine life. Avast! I be giving grog to ye all! Me be wondering why me be writing this.

First exam

Sat, 21 May 2005 01:36 – No comments

First exam is coming up later today at 14:00. It's about computer organization and design. Like, how nice would this memory cache be for this particular thing, and so on. Interesting, but it's not necessarily fun to compute how much of the time some IO bus will be busy.

On a scale from 1 to 5, I give this exam a preview guess score of 3 -- interesting, not very hard, but in some ways tedious. We'll have to wait till after the exam to find out the real score, and see how good the guess was.

Summarily, here's a picture with an enlightening quote from the Fallout 1 team.

Exams coming up

Yarr, read the title. Then there's a lot of free time.

j?

Mon, 9 May 2005 21:20 – No comments

abs(evalfr(fun, 3)) <- spot the error?
abs(evalfr(fun, 3j)) <- yarr, that's more like it!

Busy! Haha, that's a good one. Hilarious.

... wait, no it isn't.

Yay for me

Tue, 3 May 2005 12:21 – No comments

The results from the 48h programming compo are ready, and I'm happily surprised. Turned out I came second in Fun, won in Innovation, and also got the Best In Show prize. In Production, I placed 4:th. If you don't believe me, check it out.

If you after this info feel motivated to try it out, you can get it here.

Sorry for not writing any fun entries lately, but I'm busy :/

Heavy bread!

Sat, 23 Apr 2005 18:41 – No comments

Aye, I have this fine picture of some very heavy bread. Here it be.

Busy!

Wed, 20 Apr 2005 22:59 – No comments

After the 48h compo last weekend, I'm quite busy rating all the entries, and then there's the matter of the fact that I must study. So I don't have much time to write stuff here. This won't necessarily stop me though, as you never know. It's usually more fun writing something here than to study.

Don't despair! I usually just write really crappy things here anyway ;) (ok, so maybe that's the point, but, well, I don't know what I'm getting at here... ehrm.. bye).

The game, Uplighter, done

Mon, 18 Apr 2005 01:30 – No comments

Right, I'm kind of done with the compo now. My diary for the compo has all the info you need, including download link and screenshots. I'm too tired to actually add them here now. I've got like 4.5 hours of sleep now before I need to get up. Bye for now.

Game programming

Sun, 17 Apr 2005 11:02 – No comments

I'm a bit busy programming a game this weekend, so no funny stuff here. Like if you would have expected that anyway...

What I be doing

Cooking with Jolle - Part 1

Thu, 14 Apr 2005 19:56 – No comments

Today I've documented how to cook. Use the nifty link to get to it: Cooking with Jolle - Part 1.

This may become a series, therefore "Part 1".

Breakfast

Sat, 9 Apr 2005 13:52 – No comments

Ok, so there was this sandwich, right? And then there was, like, another one. Ok? And I started eating the first one. And then the second one. You're with me? Right, so, then suddenly, I didn't have any sandwiches!

I can't splel to psell

Wed, 6 Apr 2005 20:33 – No comments

That's right. I can't sepll to splle.

Small RSS feed change

Sat, 2 Apr 2005 00:42 – No comments

I've made a change to the RSS feed so that it gives +0200, as it should now, when it's summer time here. This change affects the three most previous entries, so your RSS reader may think they're new entries.

Today

Fri, 1 Apr 2005 19:40 – No comments

That's it. I'm going to quit my job, sell my house, eat my dog, and become a hobo in Las Vegas.
